Scabies? Hives? Help please!?

12 wks ago I woke up w/small red bumps on my forearms & sides. After a week & half of itching, went to the ER. I brought up the possibility of scabies or my hot tub water. She said no, it was hives. Gave me oral Steriods (6 day treatment), they went away. 2 days later, they came BACK!! Called ER Doc, she gave me more steriods & told me to go to allergist. I went to my Family Doc (really just a Military PA). He had no clue & referred me to the allergist. The allergist ran 3 hrs worth of test. Tells me I have numerous allergies (dust mites, horse/cat hair, grass etc). The cause of my Hives or Uticaria is "Idiopathic". Gives me Zyrtec & Allegra & to use Aveeno. Nothing works!Doc just tells me to be patient. I am so frustrated! Today a close friend took her itchy kids to the ER while out of town. They diagnose the whole family w/ Scabies. Could this be my problem? Are all 3 Doc's be wrong w/ the "Hives" diagnosis? Will call the Doc tomorrow, but in the mean time does anybody have guidance?

Also, my hubby returned home 2 months ago from a year deployment. A few weeks ago he started to itch...similar symptoms as me. He doesnt have visible bumps like me, but is itchy & like me it's worse @ night. This kind of makes it seem like scabies again? But all 3 Doc's said no...it was hives. UGHHH!!! HELP PLEASE!!!!

Thats right---Inquiring minds
want to know.

www.google.com has a great deal of information that you could use to find your answers , while yahoo answer is more likely to be better for people's opinions.. thanks.

this is an easy one....sorry...but it's BED BUGS. tell your doctor and he"ll tell you what to do.

try over the counter benadryl. constant steroid's are not good for long periods of time

Scabies is not your fault! Contracting scabies doesn't mean your dirty, it doesn't mean you have bad hygiene.

Scabies is transmitted easily, often throughout an entire household, by skin-to-skin contact with an infected person. It takes approximately 4-6 weeks to develop symptoms after initial infestation.

This means a person can be contagious at least a month before they are ever diagnosed or show any symptoms. This person could have passed scabies to anyone that they had close contact with during that time.

Take a look at the most common places and ways to pick up the scabies mite:

Contracting scabies is very easy, all you have to do is come in contact with someone who has it.

Signs:
Intense itching
Thin, irregular marks made up of tiny blisters or bumps on your skin
Pimple-like irritations, burrows or rash of the skin
Sores on the body caused by scratching.
Thin, pencil-mark lines on the skin
Rashes

See another doctor, maybe a specialist for the skin. I hope this helps & you get some answers.

Well if it scabies, then you can get Kwell lotion and shampoo over the counter now. Everyone in the house has to be treated and laundry has to be done--linens, clothes, etc. Scabies symptoms usually begin with rash between the fingers initially.
Bed bugs is also a good possibility. Ask doctor. Benedryl or diphenhydromine--same thing--is cheap and will help itching and breakouts. Aveeno Oatmeal baths are soothing for itching as well. For localized hives or rash, cortisone cream to the area.
