Advice on my hives?

i've had hives for about a week now mostly on my wrists and legs, and they wont go away! i've been taking benedryl about 3 times a day just to try to relieve the itching, but they only last for about 5-6 hours! i get hives every once in a while, but i havent gotten them in a long time. they arent caused by anything im allergic to-they usually just come around when im stressed and stuff, but im not stressed right now!!! i was wondering if it has something to do with my period, because im supposed to get it tomorrow? anyways, is there any way that i can get the to go away soon? thanks:)

Women are actually twice as likely to suffer hives as men.
Hormonal imbalance (i.e. menstrual) has been linked to acute or chronic hives and it can also exaggerate an existing case of hives, so you are definitely correct in linking the hives to PMS; progesterone surges can definitely worsen it, so if your hives clear up as your period arrives, we'll know it's hormone related.

Sarna Anti-Itch Lotion is said to work wonders for itchy hives; Benadryl Extra Strength Itch Stopping Cream is also popular, although some people say it doesn't help them at all.

Other anti-itching products such as calamine lotion and cortisone cream can help. Don't hesitate to see the doc if you can't get the hives straightened out-sometimes the ONLY thing that finally works is a steriod cream (by prescription).

Hives can be caused by allergens, including food, environmental factors, such as pollen, dust, and change in temperature, emotional factors: such as stress, anxiety, etc., drugs such as antibiotics, anti-inflammatory, and vaccinations, synthetic products such as deodorant, perfume, and other synthetic substances, infections and infestation from fungi, bacteria, viruses, pets and insects, systemic and general diseases: such as thyroid, cancer, etc.

ugh, feel better soon man----

me 2 i hope they go away!! poor thing u!!! Report It

take some Benedryl for lt. that should take care of the hives lf that don`t work go see your doctor

It could be caused by stress. See your doctor. Perhaps she will prescribe a stronger remedy like a steroid cream. I don't think it has anything to do with your period.

Benedryl cream...............it will last longer and will not make you drowsy.
Just plain stress can and does cause hives. Keep a tube of benedryl ointment/ cream in your purse and at home.

It could be a stress rash. Do a google search on stress rash.
