Does Cyclosporine work for hives? If so how long did you have to take it?

I have to take Cyclosporine (which is an immune suppressant used for transplant patients) for Chronic Hives. It is not the healthiest drug out there but it's supposed to make my hives disappear. It would be nice to talk to someone who has or is taking this drug for the same reasons as me.

How on earth did you get cyclosporine prescribed for hives?! That stuff is so dangerous. I guess if you're saying chronic hives, then you must've already tried every NSAID out there, how about corticosteroids cream (i.e. clobetasol, etc)? They're pretty bad on the long term, too, but have got to be better than cyclosporin. They're amazingly powerful for my eczema that nothing else helped.

I've never heard of this, even as an experimental treatment. You aren't kidding when you say this isn't the "healthiest drug out there" The immune suppression is MAJOR, and I hope you've exhausted EVERY other option available. I'm not a chronic hive sufferer (I've had my share so understand your desperation) but I really hope your doctor has some good evidence for this treatment.
Good luck and good health!
