Can eating oranges cause hives?

Husband gets hives frequently and I'm wondering if the hives can be caused by eating oranges.

Anything can cause hives (an allergic reaction) if you are allergic to it. It is also possible that if too much of something is eaten at one time, your body will react to it.

I will never forget my aunt sitting there having eaten several oranges and being swollen throughout her face and neck. She is not allergic to oranges, but had eaten so many as to ellicit an allergic response.

Eat them in moderation and there may very well be no further problem.

If you have an allergy to them.

YEP

Possibly as it is an allergic reaction. I doubt the oranges are the cause. Many medications are. Ibuprofen is a common over-the-counter medication that can cause hives (urticaria). Best to see your doctor and try and get to see a dermatologist.

sounds like an allergy to Vitamin C to me. I had one when I was a kid. Oranges were the worst, but it happened when I would eat anything with vitamin C in it. Lucky me I grew out of it. If it's really bad get it checked out.
