Can you develop histoplasmosis from smoking marijuana?

Can you develop histoplasmosis from smoking marijuana?

Perhaps possible, but not very likely. The weed would have to be infested with the fungus.

The largest study of the health effects of marijuana to date was done by Kaiser Permanente. They surveyed the records of 65,000 patients for a number of years. They found no difference in the health records of those who smoked pot, versus those who didn't. So, if it does happen, it doesn't happen any more frequently than it does in people who never smoke pot.

You can find a ton of information on marijuana and the health effects at http://druglibrary.org/schaffer

Better not smoke it so not to worry what you are going to develope.

well first i had to look histoplasmosis up.(( a disease caused by a fungal organism which is commonly found in the soil in many areas of the United States, especially the Midwest. There are two basic types of histoplasmosis: systemic (when histoplasmosis organisms are inhaled) and ocular (when neovascularization occurs through healed histoplasmosis scars). For more information, see "Eye Diseases" on the MD Support web site.

it sounds like it could possible happen, if the fungus was on the buds of the plant and then those were smoked. i think you would have a hard time proving it since marijauna is illegal an having it in ur possession would lead to some kind of citation at the least and arrest at the most...
