Is histoplasmosis common in Illinois? |
Is histoplasmosis common in Illinois? Yes it is. Histoplasmosis is common in the Midwest, mostly through the Ohio river valley. Most people do not display any symptoms, so there are a lot more cases than are reported. There are about 50 cases reported in IL each year, although about 80% of people have antibodies, showing that most people in the area have been exposed. Ummm, not that I know of. I havent heard of any epidemics of this in Illinois. Is it contagious, I wonder? |
