"pinched nerve" on foot followng hip replacement surgery.? |
My husband had right hip replacement surgery. He never had a problem with his foot. Following the surgery he had no feeling on the top of his right foot. The suregeon stated at first it might be nerve damage. Most recently we are told it is a pinched nerve. Diagnois is it may last anywhere from 2 weeks to 4 months. It is now past 1 month. Do we wait or should we seek a second opinion. My husband occupation is a school bus driver. What is likelyhood that this diagnois is incorrect. This sounds very much like the common peroneal nerve has been bruised/injured. This is most common with knee replacement, but it can be injured as part of the sciatic nerve by a retractor at time of hip surgery. Sounds most likely to be related to surgery if it occurred immediately following the hip replacement. Often these nerve injuries will resolve in a few months, so I would simply watch and wait but nerve conduction studies are an option at this point in time too. I just had a total left hip replacement and mine is doing fine?????????? I would get a 2nd opinion if i were u????? He could have this condition bc he is a sb driver!!!!!!!!!!!! |
