My mother has had a partial hip replacement and now has been informed that the hospital can do no more for her

my mother has had a partial hip replacement and now has been informed that the hospital can do no more for her and sugest a nurshing home to carry on her recovery, who has to pay for this as it could take up to 3 months

It isn't unusual for a hip patient to continue their recovery in a rehabilitation center (sometimes this is a nursing home) instead of going directly home from the hospital. This care is less costly than that provided by a hospital. Another alternative is to send the patient home and prescribe home nursing and physical therapy visits to the patient's home.
I have had both of my hips replaced in separate surgeries. After each surgery I was in the hospital for 4 days and then went home. For the next 2 weeks I had visiting nurse and physical therapist visits (they came about 2-3 times a week). Then I continued my therapy with outpatient PT.
Rehab stays are covered by many insurance policies and if she is on medicare with medigap coverage, it should also be covered. Check her insurance coverage. It's likely that most or all of the expense will be covered.
Most people go directly home after hip replacement. Those who don't may have other health issues or live alone or be unable to care for themselves.
Good luck to your mother on her recovery.

If your mother is on Medicare, Medicare A may pay for going to a nursing home for rehab. You need to talk to a hospital social worker.

There are two difference that medicare and MSI. If I were you to check the hospital and ask them about MSI. If this cover for hospital and nursing home. if this cover with MSI.
