My son recently had knee flexion surgery. Now for how long he has to wait for Total Hip Replacement?

My son aged 23 years had his left leg bent at knee to 30 degrees. Also he has worn-up hip bone which requires THR. As a first step, doctors have operated his knee on 07 July 07 and brought the leg to almost 180 degrees. However, my son is still having severe pain and is unable to walk/lift/turn his left leg.My question is how long more it will take to enable my son to use his left leg normally. Also, is it advisable to go in for Total Hip Replacement at this stage or it would be better to first let his left leg heel up and get strong befor we venture for THR. Please advise.

Hi! I think I can help you from personal experience. I'm a dentist and have ridden horses all my life. I blew out my left knee 9 years and go and my hip7 years ago. I did the knee stuff, but I did not get real relief until I had the THP in 2003. I am so angry that I didn't do it before because my walk after 3 years is almost perfect and I have very little pain. I spent 9 months in a full leg brace and 7 months doing intensive PT, but no one can tell I every had a hip replacement and my knee is also almost perfect. I can work full time without hip and leg and back pain and my patients are greatful that I am back. Please speak to you Surgeon about doing the THP as soon as you Son can handle it. Once my hip was healed, the knee was a piece of cake compared to it. I had to have two replacements because the first one failed, but that is VERY rare. Good luck to your Son, if you have any other questions, please ask. I spent months on the internet reading everything about the procedures and recovery. My doctor siad that was a big help. Also get you son on huge supplements of vitamins with bone strenthening minerals. No alcohol or cigerettes and no junk food. Lots of green leafy veggies, fish and fruit. Limit junk food to good stuff. The healthier the body, the faster it heals and the better. I took lots of magnesium and cal. so my bones had more nutrition to heal better. Vitamin C, Zinc and E help with healing as well. Very important. Marie

The price of hip replacement surgery is very low in India as compared to USA, UK and Canada. My cousin also got her hip replacement surgery in India through the Fly2india4health Consultants .She is more than very happy with the results. She is totally pain free now. She just paid 25% of the amount she was quoted in USA and is all praise for this Fly2india4health Consultants.

Fly2india4health Consultants is very famous in India. I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and magazines. I have read a lot of their patient stories also. They arrange financing for USA, Canadian, UK and other international patients who plan to have surgery abroad for low price, as all joint surgery is not covered by insurance in USA or by NHS in the UK. They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. There are huge cost savings. As a doctor I personally believe that your surgery can be easily handled in India, as the quality of healthcare available In India is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.
