Hip replacement for 25 years old. Should i wait?

Dr. told me that he can't perform the hip resurfacing surgery to me because of my bone condition. Both side of the hip bones stick together...bone and bone arthritis? Fortunately, the pain is gone just can't move my legs. Should i wait for the operation?Which material do you think okay for the young age? Titanium or Ceramics?
thanks

If you're already bone to bone, I think it may be past time for hip replacement surgery. It would reduce the amount of pain you're recieving, you'd have close to your normal range of motion, and it would end the wear and tear you're experiencing now (most artificial joints can last at least 40 years).

I'd be sure to get a second opinion from another doctor or two, preferably someone who is an orthopedic specialist. They can help you decide which procedures and implants would work best for you.

Since you're still in your 20's, the Ceramic joint might be the best for you, but it depends on your lifestyle and condition, etc. A hip replacement is a serious procedure, so make sure you have all the answers. Here's at least one link to go on.

It is unrealistic to expect hip replacements to last 40 yrs and few drs. would make that claim. There are too many variables and joints of ceramic have not even been in use for that long. Of course it would be great if they do. Also, bonesmart is a website sponsored by a hip joint manufacturer. Report It

yea, thats too young in my book.... unless u desperatly need it

w8...titanium

Wow, don't know what to say but i wish you luck on any of you'r decions. Sorry, n' Good Luck!

darn at 25 yrs old ; how young were you when you 1st had sex i thought the hip had a life time warranty;; shows you what happens when you use an abuse certin body parts;at 25 you are going to need it replaced asap or you will make alot of horney guys madddd;;

You are very young to have a hip replacement. It is unusual for someone as young as you are to have the procedure. However it is not unheard of. Should you decide to have it, you would certainly want the bearing to be either ceramic/ceramic or metal/metal because the wear debris that results from both of these bearing materials is far less than from a metal/poly bearing. There are still ?? about the consequences of metal ions from m/m joints and their effect on the body. In any case, since you are so young, it is likely that you would require revision surgery at least once, and maybe more frequently in your lifespan.

May I suggest that you post your question at the hipuniverse forum where I am sure you will receive good, informed answers to your questions. I recommend this forum:

I know a man who has worked long and hard to find answers for his arthritic hip. He's found a lot of relief and has been able to put off the surgery so far. I'd rather not place his name on Yahoo answers as he's somewhat famous. Email me and I can put you in touch with him
