12 hours after judo practice, i noticed my hip injury, very tight and can't put weight on it. what is wrong? |
so i went home after judo practice and was feeling fine (i did get tossed around quite a bit). i woke up the following morning and my hip was killing me...i feel the pain (shooting like a muscle or ligament tear) right inside my hip..almost inside my buttock..so really...it feels like inside the hip joint. when i walk i can't extend my opposite leg the full length of my normal stride because there is a very painfull sensation of muscle tightness or ligament strain (which makes me walk with a limp). My hip is very tight and not very flexible. i can't raise my leg straight to the side without pain. i also can't put weight straight down on my injured leg without pain (so it hurts to push my leg bone into the hip socket) As i know judo movements need extreme movements of the hip joints , and forced kicking and this for sure leads to repeated trauma to the capsule and the ligaments holding the hip joint . Hello! There are several different problems that could be causing your symptoms, but I suspect most likely is the "hip pointer" injury, which is a contusion of the muscles on the outer side of the hip. This would be caused by landing on that side after a throw, etc. The prognosis is for complete resolution in about a week, and you can check on this by pressing on the area to see if it is tender. If it is more painful for you, while lying on your back, to pull your knee across the body (hip & knee flexed) you could have hurt the labrum, which is a more severe injury. Good luck |
