Is my hip injury serious?

Yesterday, i was playing hockey and i got decked by about a 215 pound kid and landed right on my right hip. I'm onoly 5'6 and 120 pounds, and i have no clue what i did. It is killing today and hurts to walk and hurts when i turn certain ways. is this serious or is this just a bruise?

Go get an x-ray done. you might've cracked it. hopefully you just pulled a muscle or something. i wouldnt wait long cause if its just cracked and you keep walking on it, it'll eventually break

honestly, it is probably a bruise, but you definitely want to make sure it's nothing worse. Just go to your doc and get it checked, because if it is something, you can at least alleviate it.

Would you be able to get to the ER by yourself or have you someone who can take you? Or could you call 911? There are X-Rays there and Doctors on duty, that will be able to take care of you and the pain. Get to a Diagnosis, and advise you what kind of treatment is needed, and where. Best wishes, get well soon

A bruise is possible but if it is killing you sounds a little more than a bruise. I would suggest you avoid the movements that hurt and if you have access to crutches I would use them. Get away from weight bearing until you see an orthopedic doctor. A PCP (primary care physician) is great but something like this I would recommend someone more specific who can do some functional testing to see what might have happened. Of course that is if your insurance allowes you to bypass a PCP. Since it is a recent injury I would suggest an ice pack on 15-20 minutes and off 40-45 minutes do this throughout the day. Taking an anti-inflammatory for the discomfort. Notice if you have any swelling or something looking like a bubble. Your body has bursea sacs that act like a pillow when they are injured they can look like a prominant bubble outside the skin. It is also possible that you may have a fracture.

Most likely a bruise, apply ice, and in a few days if pain presists, go for Xrays.
