I'm a 51 year old female runner who has an injury (hip/leg area) What type of doctor would be best to see? Chiropractor, with strong training in sports medicine and therapy. You can come see me. I'm not a Dr, but We can play pretend Orthopedic It depends on the type of injury. Physical Medicine or Orthopedics would be a good start. If you haven't had a diagnosis yet you can start with your primary physician. You may need to be refered. An orthopedic doctor or a physical medicine doctor, both are M.D.'s and can help you a great deal. I would recommend an orthopaedic surgeon as their specialty is the musculoskeletal system. They may prescribe an anti-inflammatory medication or refer to physical therapy. A therapist can show you exercises to strengthen your hip and thigh muscles. |
