Injury from Yoga: why does my hip still hurt for 1 year+ from overdoing the "Jathara Parivartanasana"?

I have been trying to see a doctor but...it just didn't work out (complicated). About a year ago, i was doing this "Jathara Parivartanasana" (Crocodile twist) and i'm certain i overdid it because the next morning my left hip (front of hip joint) really hurt. But i kept on using my left hip and couldnt' rest it so now it's really hurting and i'm really worried cause i don't know what's wrong with it, and resting it for weeks doesn't do anything.

I can walk--run even--but whenever i lie down and bend my left thigh (like trying to touch my knee with my chin) AND press down my left knee to my right, my front of the hip joint/groin hurts. If i just bend my thigh it's fine, but if i pull ~in~ my knee, like doing "jathara..." it feels like my thigh locks a tendon in place & squishes it and make it hurt. If anyone can help me, please give me some idea what's going on! I'm going crazy and i can't afford a doctor because i'm stuck overseas where i don't have health coverage

It is likely that you overdid it during your yoga practice although it was probably because you did the posture wrong and caused injury to your hip. It is important to strengthen the muscles around the hip joint rather than working on it's flexibility. The muscles around any joint injury are the first place to begin with the healing. I would continue with a light yoga practice that focuses on rehabilitating injured joints.

There is only one option since I'm not psychic, figure it out your self and then fix it.
