Popping hip/leg?

So this has been happening for years now and i dont recall a specific injury that caused this but if i lay down and bring by left leg to my chest my hip (the specific bone at the inside of the top of your leg) pops then when i straighten it out it pops again. This also happens if i do "high knees". IT does NOT bring very much pain, but i'm not sure what this means. Does this need medical attention?

My hip did that for a year or so after a football injury. It never really caused too much discomfort, but eventually I got annoyed and after a few weeks of physical therapy, it went away. I'm not saying you have what I had, but my doctor told me it wasn't serious enough to make me go to physical therapy, but I'm glad I did none-the-less. Basically, why not just go see your doctor instead of asking us strangers?

You might have an cariltage abnormality in your hip...
yes I would suggest going to the docter.

This doesn't sound too serious since its not causing pain. It may have something to do with your joints. If you can help it, don't try to pop it out. You may end up tearing a ligament or tendon. My shoulder pops in and out and it doesn't cause pain, but I did it once by accident and I tore my rotator cuff. The muscles in my shoulder couldn't keep it in place and they tore under the stress. This WAS painful.

The popping you feel and hear is the joint moving within the hip socket. If you've had this for years and it causes you no problem, doesn't sound like something serious. If you begin to have new pain or difficulty walking, then see your MD...

My hip pops with every step I take quite often - meaning a few days a week. It doesn't really hurt but it feels like it should. I can hear it pop in and out of place as I walk. My rheumatologist isn't concerned with it since it doesn't cause me actual pain, only discomfort. I have arthritis and there isn't anything to make it go away, only treat the symptoms such as pain. Exercise which doesn't further injure is recommended.

I wouldn't worry about it unless you are in pain or if there is swelling. Just take it easy during the times it is particularly sensitive. If you do experience pain or swelling then definitely go to a doctor. He may put you on prescription strength ibuprofen type medication for inflammation. Good luck!
