Dancing with old injuries?

i was born with a dislocated hip and had many operations at about 14 months to correct this!! i was kept on the hospitals books for 7 years and then discharged. I never had any problems with my hip until about 1 1/2 years ago when it started to ache.... i went to physio and it got a lot better!! But now i have the ache back and sharp pains!! it worries me becuase i am a passionate dancer who dances 11-12 hours a week and i play hockey at weekends!! does anyone have any suggestions about maybe whats happening with my hip or what i should do!!

The back ache and sharp pains you are experiencing are relative to the old hip problem. As everyone gets older, it is a known fact, that we seem to get smaller and perhaps the problem now is that hip/leg is slightly shorter that the other leg, hence you are walking slightly "lop-sided." thus resulting in back problems. I have the same problem due to a road accident and damage to one leg, which despite surgery is still slightly shorter than the other. Exercise within moderation is good for the problem but you have to know your limits and then take rest (elevating your leg).
If the back problem is very acute, go to your GP and request an x-ray on the problem area.
Hope matters get sorted as you can enjoy your dancing again !
