Do you think this is fair? problem with parents...? |
I have a hip injury from cross country season and i was given physical therapy exercises to do. i know im not doing them right but my parents refuse to take me until they see me do them for three weeks straight. but i know im not doing them right and i have to heal my hip flexors in less than three weeks and if i wait it will be too late and i could risk being out for the season on this stupid injury i cant get rid of! i have been doing my exercises like the deal with them was...they jsut dont seem to believe me. Try calling the PT and ask if they can verbally explain them to you again. Just let them know that you can't get in to them for a few weeks but you are concerned you aren't doing them correctly. Would it be you that is the unreasonable one here? Injury is a part of being an athlete. You have to learn to deal with it. If you don't heal your injuries now, you'll regret it later. I don't know what to say about the rents, but I think you have to rest before you get better. I know it's hard, I am a runner too. I always run when I am hurt, but you sound pretty bad..and if you want to run in 3 weeks take a break!! Tell you parents that you really need it, and you will be very unhappy if you can't get better. BEG!! haha I hope you're not serious. You admit to not doing the physical exercises right but you blame your parents for your impending cut from track? Wake up, sweetie. YOU are responsible for your own destiny. You already know the answer to this question, you need to do your exercises properly. I realize that you want this really bad, but you really need to buckle down and do the rehab correctly so that it will heal correctly. talk to the coach maybe you can get a late start with the team. If you do things too quickly, you may cause long term damage and that may put you out of track for longer. ample rest before more damage done. there is a little invention made about 140 years ago, it's called a telephone. Call the physical therapist and ask how to do the exercises correctly, they don't need to see you to tell you how you know. I can't imagine parents not wanting to help, unless you've done things in the past that show you aren't to be trusted. Try doing something on your own, make the call. just imagine ur parents say ok lets go. u go there and the injury gets worse. u cant move. u cant do anything. u meet a guy u really like and cant approach him be cause of ur stupid hip injury. and embarrase urself in front of him. u wish u did not come here. u will wish that i just stayed at home and wait until ur injury gets better. do ur exercise regularly. listen to ur parents. if u are lucky ur injury may get better in just no time if u do ur exercise regularly. slow and steady wins the race Oh crap...you have parents that pay attention to you...Oh Jeez..you have parents who care.....What to do , what to do? Shame on you for griping..get with the program and see the big picture here kiddo...1st, try seeing this from their point of view..you said it yourself, you have not been doing the simple necessities...this is all about YOU...you need to take a serious time out and look at yourself before casting blame upon them!!! You live for you and YOUR desires...and they protect you so that you can selfishly live for you...WOW!! Has it occured to anyone to take you to see a doctor to determine exactly what is wrong with the hip flexor? Is there a tear in the muscle, it is just bruised, are the tendons inflammed or torn, is it refered pain from elsewhere or what? The exercises that you do vary, depending on what the problem is. Do the wrong exercises and you can aggravate the situation. Have you seen a doctor at all? Your parents are in the wrong, if you are not sure if you are doing the right, let them know you may have a problem and may may doing more harm with improper exersize than proper ones. Only proper excersize can help heal injury, improper ones can do more harm the good. Let them know that, if they refuse to comply seek help yourself, by going to your coach and let him or her know what is going on. |
