How can you gain weight in the right areas?

My body is built really skinny. I am 5'4" tall. My measurements are 31" bust, 27" waist, and 29" hips. However, my thighs and calves are normal sized, so they look disproportional to my body. I have had several of my friends talk to me about an eating disorder they think I have! I just want to find a few answers or theories on how to gain some weight in my waist/stomach area.

Well, unfortunately there is no way to select what areas of the body a person will gain or lose body fat in This is because each person's body is genetically programmed to store fat in different regions; for example some people gain in their stomach area, then their hips and thighs, then their chest. Which is why you sometimes hear women complain that they lost 5 pound and their favorite asset disappeared.

However, you CAN do to change your body proportions selectively, by exercise; because obviously you can work some areas more than others, hence the term "body sculpting." If you've tried tucking in a few extra cheeseburgers, and the weight goes where you don't want it, then you might want to look at hitting the gym. An excellent reference is "The Body Sculpting Bible for Women", which you can get at Amazon, I'll put the link below.

One other thing that you might want to consider is most women gain about 5-10 pounds when they go in the Pill. My friend Natalya has a body type similar to yours鈥攕he's 5'3" and was about 97 lbs, with really skinny hips鈥攁nd when she started on the pill last year it really filled out her rear. Actually, come to think of it, most women I know who have gone on the pill, gain the weight in the chest in and the hips, not so much the stomach; probably because of the hormones. So maybe the experts are wrong about selective weight gain ;)

Every body wants to look better, but just to put things in perspective, you have a "problem" that a lot of women would kill for. Not saying you don't have a legitimate concern, just don't blow things out of proportion (sorry for the pun.)

One last thing鈥攄on't worry too much about what your friends say. I have seen a girls act truly bitchy to their "skinny" friends, who are perfectly healthy, under the pretense of "concern". I'm actually pretty sure it's a jealousy thing: a lot of women have a trouble controlling their weight, and and I think they tend to resent others for whom it comes easily, even if it's unconscious.

You can sculpt your body through exercising, however you probably need to consult a professional trainer or at least read some books on the subject to learn exactly what exercises to do and which ones not to do and for how long and so on.

lots of carbs and protein and play tennis
