Is herpes zoster need isolation in the hospital and type of isolation and why? |
Is herpes zoster need isolation in the hospital and type of isolation and why? If you are talking about shingles then the answer would be yes you do need isolation in the hospital. Someone who never had chicken pox should not be around this patient for the fact that they might get chicken pox from this patient. Also pregnant women should not be in contact with this patient. The type of isolation the patient would be placed on is contact isolation. Herpes Zoster is only contagious to people who have NOT had chicken pox. Hospitals get to decide weather or not they would quarantine the patient. |
