I have herpes simplex?!?

im only 14 years old and i've been getting very painful canker sores on my tongue and on my gums for the past year. they are reoccuring and they come and go every four months.

i went to a dentist a few months ago and she said there was nothing she could do. i've chosen to try and ignore them because...well..eventually they disapeared. however, this time i could not ignore them. the pain was so unbearable that i had to get my mom to take me to the doctor.

the doctor examined them and he said that it was herpes simplex virus?! he said its not a big deal and he is going to give me antibiotics for it.

im still a virgin and i have a boyfriend, however i got the cankersores before i ever dated anyone so im pretty sure i didnt catch it from anyone...

i have a few questions tho:
1. if i make out with my boyfriend will the herpes spread to him?
2. is herpes simplex curable w/ medicine?
3. if im still a virgin and didn't get it from kissing, how did i get it!?

thanks!

1. Yes
2. No, but controllable with Valtrex or the generic. Youjust have to take more of the generic. You can also take Vitamin E, Vitamin A,Yogurt, Cranberry Juice (all in moderation, ESPECIALLY the vitamins, which can be harmful if you take an overdose._.
3. You could have gotten it from anyone, even a well-meaning relative with a cold sore who kissed your face.

90% of people have this.

You can also apply Vitamin E oil to the sores that are on the outside of the mouth. Cut back on chicken, nuts, and other foods that inhibit L Lysine, which is another helpful supplement. Echinicea, etc. also. It attacks worst when your immunities are down, like when you are short on sleep or have a period or a cold. Take care of yourself, and the outbreaks will be less. Be honest with your boyfriend. If he doesn't stick around, he wasn't worth you time anyways, but he will resent you later if you are not honest.

1. its possible
2. viruses are usually not curable, but there are treatments for it. abreva is a good one
3. you may have kissed someone who carries the virus but doesnt show the symptoms

Those are all good questions for your doctor. Getting advice on the Internet can be pretty unreliable.

From wikipedia:
HSV is generally transmitted by direct contact of lips or genitals when the sores are present, or also when no sores are present (known as viral shedding). HSV can be present in semen, vaginal fluids, and saliva. In addition, herpes may be transmitted during childbirth, which can be fatal to the infant. The immature immune system of the child is unable to defend against the virus and even if treated, infection can result in brain damage. Transmission occurs while passing through the birth canal and the risk of infection is minimal if there are no symptoms or exposed blisters during delivery. The first outbreak after exposure to HSV is commonly more severe than future outbreaks, as the body has not had a chance to produce antibodies; this first outbreak also carries a low (~1%) risk of developing aseptic meningitis

jen,
don't warp and distort this herpes thing your system may just
be more vulnerable to the virus.
hopefully your system will grow stronger and you will have
less outbreaks.

If the herpes are open sores then yes you can spread it. Herpes is not curable for life, only helps for the moment. You will have it for life.
Its the same as a cold sore, you must have come into contact with someone who also had the herpes simplex and their sores were open, is probably how you got it.
Its not the end of the world but you do have to take precautions. Good luck!

1) If you kiss your boyfriend while having an outbreak, you could possibly give him herpes.
2)Herpes is uncurable.
3)You could have been born with herpes.
