Herpes Simplex 1?

I had a break out about a two years ago. but the doctor said it was Herpes Simplex 1. Ive always had cold sores which is also Simplex 1 BUT this break out happened in the "lower area" how it happened I dont know. BUT can that somehow turn into Herpes Simplex 2 on its own?

Both herpes simplex 1 and herpes simplex 2 are viruses that cause ulcer-like sores in the mucosal areas. The difference between type 1 and type 2 is really insignificant from a clinical standpoint. Both are spread by direct contact. Both can affect the genitals or the lips. Both cause the same burning sensation. The only difference is mainly on a molecular level, minor DNA differences, etc.

Both tend to recur in the area that was previously affected. 90% of the time herpes 1 affects the mouth, but it can affect the genital area as well. Similarly, 90% of the time herpes 2 affects the genitals, but it can affect the mouth area as well. Why this happens is unknown, (perhaps something to do with the virus particles). At any rate both 1 and 2 CAN affect both the lips and the genitals.

Perhaps you touched your own cold sore and then touched yourself while going to the bathroom, or perhaps you got it a different way. At any rate, you might want to see a doctor. If the genital herpes spread, it can be a problem. Also, you should consider it contagious. Also, it might be something else.

Herpes 1 and herpes 2 are no different they are just in different locations. So if someone kissed you then went down on you it could be spread that way. I'm not sure if you could spread it on your own, like touching your mouth and then touching yourself. I know that herpes only survives in the type of skin you find in your mouth and genital area. You need to see an ob/gyn.

It can't turn into Simplex 2 all on it's own. They are two different viruses entirely. However, Simplex 2 Is an STD, and is something you could have aquired from a sexual partner. But if your doctor said this is not the case, then I would trust your doctor.

It can not turn into Simplex 2. I have simplex one on my lower half. More than likely it was transfered oral to genital. The biggest difference between 1 and 2 is the area of the body that it prefers and some of its structural make up.

It could be either HSV 1 or 2. Have you been given the IgG blood test for herpes simplex antibodies? If not that would be the first thing I did. I have HSV 1 and 2. I have never had a coldsore in my life and one mild outbreak down yonder. I was diagnosed almost a year ago.
Either you had oral sex with someone who gets coldsores HSV1 or had sex with someone who had HSV 2.
Go get the bloodwork done.
I reread your post now did the dr do blood work or was that a visual diagnosis?
