Question about herpes simplex? |
Ok so back in the summer, I had these bumps on my elbow that turned into like blisters and were really sensitive to the touch. I can't remember what I did this time for it to go away. At the time, I was living with my boyfriend. Then around November, it came back on the same elbow. I am pregnant by the way so this time I told my OB. She put me on Augmentin and it went away. This time I was living with my aunt. Now a couple weeks ago it came back again! Same elbow. My OB told me to see my family dr. I don't have one so I went to urgent care. The dr. said he didn't think it was a bacterial infection since it kept coming back to the same place. So he took some cultures of the puss. Today they called me and said it came back positive for herpes simplex. So what does this mean? How would I have even gotten it? Why on my elbow? Can this affect my boyfriend? What about my baby due in 6 weeks? The nurse said I can't take Valtrex like they prescribed. Oh I know I'll be going over this with my doctor. I had an appointment set up for Monday as it is so I called them today and asked if they could get the results sent over to them so that way they will be able to answer my questions come Monday. No disrespect but,You really should have been asking your doctor or the nurse those questions. Especially regarding your baby. I suggest you go to WebMd.com for a complete breakdown of the Herpes Simplex 1 and, the Herpes Simplex 2 virus. |
