If I have herpetic whitlow, and I date someone with herpes simplex 1 am I already immune to it?

I have herpetic whitlow and have not had an outbreak on my hands in years. I am pretty sure it is herpes simplex 1. I don't know how I got it but I do work in healthcare. I am thinking of dating a women who I am pretty sure has herpes simplex 1 and I have seen her with sores on her lips. Since I already have herpes simplex 1 am I at risk of getting it on my lips if I kiss her. Or are the antibodies I have from the whitlow, well make me immune tto getting them on my lips or genitals. Since it is the same herpes simplex?

Just because you have one strain of the herpes virus doesn't mean you can't get another strain of the virus. You're best bet is to be safe and use protection.

first off you can't be immune to an STD (yes herpes is and STD and never goes away, it's just dormant) and kissing this woman does expose you to the virus

Herpes simplex one and two can remain dormant for years, and then in times of stress, heat exposure, cold exposure etc. it can flare up. No you can never be immune from getting herpes. Herpes simplex one can be on the mouth, fingers, and genitals. Two is usually diagnosed downstairs. Don't kiss or have sex with anyone with active lesions.
