Can Herpes Simplex be detected by Blood Test or Urine Test after the first symyoms go away? |
After the first onset of the symptoms, when the skin blisters, pimples etc heal, there won't be any secretion to take a sample of. So dont' one need to test the blood or urine? Yes. if your not broken out your doctor can do a blood test to see if you have the virus and what kind. herpes cultures are not recommended for asymptomatic people. other screening methods like cytology and direct fluorescent antibody staining are available however they are not where near as sensitive as a virul culture. plus, i believe they are more expensive. i hear there are some new tests coming out, but i have no idea what they comprise of or even what they are called. you're better off just waiting for another outbreak unless you can get some better information. Antibodies for herpes can be detected in a blood test. However it may take up to 3 months from your exposure for those antibodies to develop. |
