Herpes Simplex 1 questions...?

My brother just found out he has that. Is there any way that I could get it. of course, I won't be using his cups or anything. Could i get that... I am pretty worried about. I try to browse the net but it only talks about the person infected. ... What to do? I'm so scared!

It's orally... well, I am assuming he has it cuz his pregnant girlfriend who lives with us is in the hospital for it. So, of course I assume he has it cuz he was sick before she was... ah... nervous..

Does your brother have it orally or genitally? There is a very good chance you already have it. 80% of the population already has oral herpes, and most do not have symptoms. In most cases it is type 1. If he has it orally, you have have gotten it the same way he did, only you do not have symptoms. Perhaps one of your parents has it, and passed it during a kiss or sharing a drink. It is so common that most people do not even think about. Unless you move into a bubble, it is unlikely you will avoid it during your lifetime.

If you are that concerned, you should go and have a bloodtest done to confirm your status. That is the only way to know for sure if you have been exposed.

It really is not worth stressing over though. It is little more than getting a pimple from time to time to those who do show symptoms.

It is very likely you already have it, most people do.

Don't be scared. I have herpes simplex and it's not a problem. Just take care of yourself, and if you have an outbreak on your lip, take Valtrex. There is no danger of outbreaks anywhere else on your body.

As long as you dont have regular sex or oral sex with him and don't touch his infected areas when they are active (with herpes, only sometimes they are active and sometimes inactive)...then they are not spreadable by touch.
