Herpes Simplex Type 1 (the oral type)? |
I understand that this virus is for life, but if you have UNPROTECTED sex during a period of NO outbreak, can you still pass it on? In other words, is your partner guaranteed an infection if you have it? You gotta have kids at some point so you can't always use condoms for the rest of your life. if you have hsv-1 in the genital region,(since this is how your question sounds) you have a very low chance of having recurrent outbreaks and passing on the virus. hsv 2 is associated with more outbreaks and more problems than genital hsv-1. If your wife or whatever does get pregnant make sure she is tested. Babies can die from both viruses. Yes you can still pass the virus on if there is no outbreak as there is a period known as the prodrome period or viral shedding in which no symptoms are present but you are contagious. That is how I contracted HSV type 1 myself. it is possibly that u may still pass the virus to ur wife, coz this kind of virus has a long duration and one of my friends on positivesingles.com told me that he was infected just coz of his carelessness when having sex. if u wanna have child, it is more important 4 u 2 be careful |
