No, Herpes Simplex (HSV) 1 and 2 are caused by slightly different viruses. Typically HSV 1 causes oral infections and HSV 2 causes genital infections. However, having oral sex with someone infected with HSV 1 can transmit HSV 1 to the genital area and vice versa.
