Can herpes simplex go to your private parts?

Can herpes simplex go to your private parts?

Herpes simplex does affect the genital area.

Genital herpes can be caused by either herpes simplex virus 1 or herpes simplex virus 2. Usually genital herpes is caused by herpes simplex virus 2 though.

If a person has cold sores (oral herpes), which is also caused by the herpes simplex virus, and gives a person oral sex, it can cause the person "receiving" to develop genital herpes.

Herpes can spread from the mouth to the genital area and vice versa through oral sex.

Take care!

Yes with ORAL SEX from someone that has it on their mouth!

Also called: HSV
Herpes is an infection that is caused by a herpes simplex virus (HSV). Oral herpes causes cold sores around the mouth or face. Genital herpes affects the genitals, buttocks or anal area. Genital herpes is a sexually transmitted disease (STD). You can get it from having sex, even oral sex. The virus can spread even when sores are not present.

Yes. You can spread herpes from different parts of your body to other parts. Picking at that cold sore on your lip can then be spread to your genitals via your hand. Herpes is most commonly noted in the soft tissue areas of your body such as your mouth and genitals but you can have a herpes outbreak anywhere like inside your nose or around an eye. Rarer cases are the cuticles of the fingers after having your nails done at a salon that is unsanitary. There is no cure for herpes simplex only drugs that can help control or minimise outbreaks.

Herpes B can spread to your genitals, not always through oral sex. The virus lies dormant in your system forever, it will attack the weakest tissues. The attack can occur due to stress, change in hormones, any thing. Valtrex is often recommended for the treatment of both types. This is not something you should feel ashamed about, it is what it is. A non sexually transmitted virus. You cannot cure it, but you can be educated on how to live with it. My husband has it in his eye....go figure!
I suggest you see your physician, and see if you can start on the Valtex treatment as soon as possible.
The STD herpes is NOT the same as the Herpes Simplex B. While you CAN transfer from one person to another with sex, if you get the cold sore type in your privates it is NOT an STD. Ask a gynecologist.
Sorry kia, ask your gyno. I actually WORK for one, and we have a few pts with this same problem. Get your facts straight before you start insulting people.
lol..and you are saying my husband has had sex with his eye?
I have asked a few doctors, from Gyno, to GP...they all tell me the same thing. You can get a cold sore on your privates, but it is NOT the same as the STD herpes.

DUH, YEA!!!!!!!!!
ORALLY!!!!!!!!!!!

Herpes B? it will attack the weakest tissues? A non sexually transmitted virus?
And this is from a medical assistant? I worry about patients who visit this doctor's office. They are leaving with a lot of inaccurate and outdated information.

The herpes virus can and does spread to both the genital and oral area. In some cases it can also spread to other parts of the body. The oral area is considered any place in the facial region, and the genital ares is considered any place in the boxer shorts region.

Bother HSV1 & HSV2 can be located in either location, and they both can be spread by sexual contact, kissing and sharing food. It is much harder to spread HSV2 orally, but it is not impossible. It is actually easier to spread HSV1 from the oral region to the genital region than it is to spread HSV2 from the genital region to the genital region.

Once you are infected with the virus, your body begins to build up antibodies which prevent it from spreading to other locations. After you have the virus for a few months it is unlikely that you will contract the same virus in another location. In those first few weeks though, you can spread it by touching the outbreak and then touching another area of your body.

The virus does not seek out weak tissues. It lies dormant in the nerve ganglia until it is reactivated. Then it travels the infected nerve path to the surface.

So the answer to your question is yes. Herpes can and does go to your private parts if the private parts are exposed to the virus.

yes either type can be found in either place
