Has anyone got herpes simplex II from oral sex with partner on valtrex?

and did it take very long for the outbreak to show up?

It tends to be herpes simplex 1 that you get form oral sex, since 95% plus of oral herpes is caused by hsv-1 and only less than 5% by hsv-2. Hsv-2 is also not very infectious at all on the mouth - it is not well adapted to that area. It would be unusual for someone to take valtrex for an oral infeciton with hsv-2, rather than a genital infection with hsv-2.

Just over half of genital herpes is caused by hsv-1, but this is not infectious through the mouth and so cannot be caught by your infected partner giving you oral sex. It is possible that they could have a separate hsv-1 oral infection, as do 8 out of 10 people - cold sores. As with genital herpes, valtrex halves the infection rate but it is still very possible to transmit it.

I actually caught hsv-1 through receiving oral sex, which is very common theses days. My partner gets regualr cold sores but was not on valtrex. We were together 7 years before I caught it, but from the time in question that I caught it to symptoms was probably no more than 48 hours, even though at first I thought it was a yeast infection.

what valtrex basically does is control outbreaks and makes the virus less contagious but there is still a risk of contracting it. i got genital herpes from my bf who gave me oral sex, he didn't even know he had herpes and he wasn't on valtrex. for me the first outbreak took about 3-5 days to show up now that i recognise the symptoms, i have to take valtrex to help control my outbreaks.
