Can someone get oral herpes (herpes simplex) from a monogamous partner who doesn't have it?? |
Is it possible? Yep, it's also called cold sores, and that can be transmitted through kissing, or even secondary contact (shared drinking glasses, etc...) Herpes simplex is a virus. If you don't carry it, you can't spread it. The type of herpes you're talking about, results in a cold sore. If you had ONE cold sore as a 3 year old, and never had another until you were 30...you've STILL always carried the dormant virus. It just didn't flare up until now. not likely Not if the other partner doesn't have it, it can only be passed on if one of the partners has it. Your partner may have it, but it is not visible. Oral hepes does not show on all people the same way. No. There are people who can operate as a carrier for the herpes virus & never become infected with it, the same as any virus. No. Have you ever got a cold sore? I used to get them when I was like 11. My sexual partner at that point, I'm pretty sure, was both monomogamous and not dirty. So, big fat yes to that, based off of knowledge of cold sores. ...NO...you cannot catch something that is not there...are you sure this partner is monogamous? if they have never had a cold sore and don't have one I would have to think the answer is no, but anyone can get a cold sore! The problem is: you may have it, and not know it. You can be a carrier of both herpes 1 & 2, have never had an outbreak that you know of, yet you can still give it to a partner. please don't ever ask another question *sigh* Yes, No. |
