If heroin addict has been doing heroin for 20 years and is still alive, how often he uses it???

If heroin addict has been doing heroin for 20 years and is still alive, how often he uses it, 3 or 4 times a week????(I guess everyday cannot be cos then he would be dead in 1 or 2 years after he started doing it)

Heroin is a narcotic. You could take narcotic on a daily bases, but you would build up a tolerance and would need more and more to get the same effect. I don't think there is a answer to this question. More than likely the person has binges and stops for a while and binges again. just a theory

3-4 times a week seems way too frequent. My guess is that it varies from week to week, or month to month. He may do it 2 times week one, not touch it week two, 3 times week three, and 2 times week four, etc...

ive known people who will shoot up several times a day
and do this for years.
its not too commen to go on binges with heroin then just stop for a few months withdrawl is the worst thing you can imagine. most users try very hard (as in doing whatver it takes to get it) to avoid withdrawling.

I had a mate who used about 9 bags (one hit per bag) a day hes still alive and still using as far as i know and tolerance does build up FAST. they tend to cap off simply because they cant get "high" anymore it becomes maintenance just to feel remotely normal.

i know its not a specific answer but there really isnt one unless you talk with someone who actually uses.
You can try going to a few NA (narcotics anonomous) meeting in your area. Dont ask questions outright just sit and listen. Your answers will come eventually.
