Random heroin facts?

I'm looking for some random accurate heroin facts, such as statistics, health concerns, etc. Thanks a lot (:

Comming form an ex-junkie, I will not get into specifics, but it is extremely dangerous and very bad for your health. I suggest doing some research on it and maybe even going to a NA meeting and just sitting in the back and listening, then maybe talking to people afterwards. I've been off drugs for over 12 years now and my health, not to mention my teeth, are suffering badly and all stemming from being a junkie

very addictive, with drawl is awful- people get violently ill and "kick" and vomit- that is where the term "kicking the habbit" comes from

R U serious? I think it will kill you. hows that for a health fact

Heroin junkies are complete losers....thats a fact for ya. Heres another...they are always itchy...they never shower....they are totally unhealthy and every time they use...it could be their last....withdrawals are the worst and to come off heroin, most people use meth so the withdrawal symptoms arent there.

Heroin is processed from morphine, a naturally occurring substance extracted from the seedpod of the Asian poppy plant. Heroin usually appears as a white or brown powder. Street names for heroin include "smack," "H," "skag," and "junk." Other names may refer to types of heroin produced in a specific geographical area, such as "Mexican black tar
The short-term effects of heroin abuse appear soon after a single dose and disappear in a few hours. After an injection of heroin, the user reports feeling a surge of euphoria ("rush") accompanied by a warm flushing of the skin, a dry mouth, and heavy extremities. Following this initial euphoria, the user goes "on the nod," an alternately wakeful and drowsy state. Mental functioning becomes clouded due to the depression of the central nervous system. Other effects included slowed and slurred speech, slow gait, constricted pupils, droopy eyelids, impaired night vision, vomiting, constipation
Major withdrawal symptoms peak between 48 and 72 hours after the last does and subside after about a week. Sudden withdrawal by heavily dependent users who are in poor health can be fatal.

One of my best friends is a junkie and I see her go through hell in the mornings Aparently that is when the withdrarwls are the worst. But when she does her "hit", she sits there for what seems forever and falls asleep sitting up. THere are many times where I have to move her legs because she falls asleep on them and there is no cuculation With no blood going to her legs, they get all crampy and then she cannot walk for a couple of days
