Is this a heroin user?

One of the girls at my work got fired for "supposedly" coming to work high on heroin. Here are her symptoms :

1. She talked really slow
2. She fell asleep standing up with her mouth open
3. She took about 10 smoke breaks
4. Sometimes her eyes would roll to the back of her head
5. And I never did see her arms.

Could it have been heroin? Or could it be a million other things and we just assumed the worst?

ps - I'm pretty sure they fired her for sleeping on the job. That alone was pretty bad.

she seemed like a nice girl...but she'd come to work like that for about 4 days. so it all got kinda weird and sort of unprofessional - especially when she started nodding off in front of customers.

It very well could have been some kind of illegal drug. However, it could also have been a prescription medication that is new. Or it could be a medical condition such as partial or absence seizures. Just gotta be careful not to jump to conclusions since it could be something that needed urgent medical care. I would say that they definitely shouldn't have fired her if they weren't sure. If it was medical, that would be horrible. Unfair and dangerous to her. I think you are such a good person for keeping an open mind and actually showing care and concern for her.

Heroin users do act like that.

It could be any drug. It sounds like she was out drinking all night and was really tired and hungover at work. Lota of drugs have that effect when taken in unsafe doses: methadone, vicodin, perks, etc.

# 2 and #4 are the ones that are suspect to me. It does sound like she might have been nodding out. Of course she could have bee hypoglycemic or narcoleptic. Perhaps you will never know.

Yeah its very empathetic that you share concern for you're coworker even though you might not have known her. You are keeping an openmind as you know many different assumptions can fly around the work place. Especially people that were jealous or didn't like the person. It is possible its signs of heroin as heroin is similiar to morphine (but stronger euphoric drug). People can become wired from the feel good experience, they can also become detached from the norm as morphine produces this affect and is commonly used in patients that are dying.
