Heroin? NO STUPID, IMMATURE ANSWERS, PLEASE!!! Read Details?

I am working on a book and a character in it overdoses on heroin. Heroin can be injected with a syringe, right? If you went to a secret drug dealer that sold it, when you asked for it, what would the item that he gives you look like. Do they give it in a little plastic bag...Any info on this would really help my story. When I wrote my outline for it and read it over it dawned upon me that I don't even know what the heck heroin is lol
