What's the treatment to heroin addiction?

I'm addicted to heroin. The first time I tried using heroin was the night I discovered my boyfriend cheating on me. I was heartbroken and devastated. One of my classmates, Mike, offered me heroin. He said that it's the best remedy for a heartbreak. I tried it and I didn't like it at first but I found myself wanting to have it in my system again. I became addicted to it and I love the euphoric feeling that it provides. Just recently, I realized how my addiction to heroin affects my family. I've never seen my mother so downhearted and miserable. I want to change. I want to give up my addiction but I can't do it alone.

First of all, stay away from that Mike guy. He's no good. Seeking help to overcome your addiction with heroin is the right thing to do. Heroin addiction may be treated through behavioral therapy and holistic approach. Try entering drug rehabilitation centers and attend treatment programs. They might help. textbooks say heroin is one of the least physically addictive substances, less than coke, ecstasy, alcohol or cigarettes, so it's all in the head. If you don't form a strong resolution you can't overcome it no matter how many clinics you go to

the only way youre going to get over it is rehab. no other way. so start checking yourself in and good luck getting clean.

a good shrink to figure out why he got hooked in the first place and what not.

after he realizes why he did it, then he will have to go through a treatment program and get straight.

the addiction will never go away , he is hooked for life now.

other than that.. a gun and one bullet to the head., should about do it.

You need to tell your family and seek help.
Most of all you have to want to kick the habit, cause it will not easy.

But in the end it will be worth it.

First of all Well Done for realising you have aproblem and that you need help. From what i know trying to quit is very hard and you will probably need help to do so.
Ther are two ways that I know of;
1) Cold Turkey - where you just stop taking heroin without any help and no other substitute drugs.
2) Gradually with Methadone.

The best way to go about it is to check yourself into rehab to remove yourself from the enviornment you are currently living in. I have had a bad addiction to drugs as well and what helped me was being removed from the enviornment i was in. AFter leaving I relapsed a couple times but being honest with people and telling them i relapsed and talking about how i felt instead of turning to the drugs really helped a lot. It's not easy and never will be....its all about how bad you want to stop. Give yourself 10 reasons why you NEED to stop and make those your top priorities instead of heorine

Then dont do it alone. Get a treatment team....and a 12 step group. I am for AA - no junkie starts out with a needle in thier arm...they start sipping a beer when they were kids....people in NA relapse all the time because they talk about how great it was all the time....

Talk to your doctor....methadone is not a viable treatment option for all addicts, I know plenty of them (in AA by the way) who said it was worse than Heroin.

Well one of my friends was addicted also and they locked her in a room for like a week and gave her food every day, but made her stay in that room until she was done screaming. Just tell your parents to lock you in a room with just a bed and nothing else. Hope I helped.

If you are physically addicted, the standard treatment is methadone. Methadone allows you to function and work while staving off cravings. However, the reasons for psychological addiction can best be addressed by psychologists who specialize in addiction. If the habit is interfering with your life, you may want to consider rehab. Methadone is a common treatment for heroin users although it also can be habit-forming. You clearly have a self-esteem problem which you are masking with your use of heroin. No amount of drug rehabilitation is going to work unless you address this problem as well. You need to seek professional help in the form of counselling, as well as medical help for your heroin addiction.

The most important part of the treatment is the decision to stop. If that doesn't happen, all the treatment in the world won't help. Good luck with it.
