Information about heroin?

Does anyone know where I can find in depth information about heroin? I've already read the wikipedia article on it, have googled it, and I've found many websites with basic information about it (effects, risks, withdrawal, trafficking), but I'd like more details. Not really sure what kind of details, but I'll know when I see it.

Do you know of any good websites or books about heroin?

Before you guys jump on me, I'm not on heroin, nor do I ever plan on doing it. I just find it interesting. That doesn't mean I'm apathetic to the fact that people suffer from drug addiction. Why would I want to know about this? Well, why not? Just because something is unpleasant, it doesn't mean you shouldn't know anything about it.

Thanks.

check libraries and call your doctors office to recieve literature about it. also just try typing in drug abuse. wikipedia is not always accurate.
P.S. i'm a recovering herione addict for 4 years now, let me know if i can be of help. you can email me.

have you checked erowid? they have accounts written by people who do the drugs--how much they did and what their experience was like. it's a great internet resource. people write quite candidly and often they become story-like.

If you've already done the internet research then it's time to head to the library. There are probably plenty of books on addictive drugs, but I'm thinking you may want the more detailed information about how it works and why it's addictive. You'll probably find more information on that in medical journals. Do a periodicals search and see what you come up with.

Good luck but remember...curiosity killed the cat!

Use of opioids for medical purposes but without the supervision of health care practitioners and all use for nonmedical purposes can lead to consequences such as delirium and injury. Chronic use can lead to dependence. Dependence is marked by an overpowering compulsion to continue taking opioids, the development of tolerance so that the dosage must be increased to obtain the initial effect, and physical dependence that increases in intensity with increased dosage and duration of use.
