I am an American heroin addict, can I move to Holland and get heroin legally?

I have been using it off and on for years now and have tried every route to quit (jail, rehab, methadone, suboxone, etc...). I have severe depression (which existed before my addiction) and heroin is the only thing that eases my pain. Without it, I am a nervous wreck and feel life isn't worth living. I heard that in Amsterdam that physcians give you RX heroin much like they do at the methadone clinics here in the States. Please answer only if you can be kind and helpful. Believe me, I have exhausted every last option. I am happy, at ease and actually a productive person when I use but it is hell when I am not.

I'd put something a bit more sociable on the Visa application first. Not exactly selling yourself.

its not legal anywhere. I suggest you get help. Heroin might make you feel better but the problems will still be there unless you deal with them

Did your "every last option" include ibogaine therapy?

Holland has begun to crack down on the hard and soft drugs they were once known to tolerate. I am sorry that you are so much pain but moving to a foreign country is not the solution.

You'll never really be content until you stop using it. The happiness and contentment that you feel when using it is just an illusion, and not real.

You will feel fantastic if you finally manage to come off it altogether.

hiya.please just take a moment to read what you have written.... you say you were depressed BEFORE your addiction so it would seem until you deal with the depression. heroin is just a cover up . give rehab another serious try and ask for treatment for your deep depression maybe you can get help with a pcychologist to find the underlying reason for it... the heroin isnt making you happy hunni it just hides the main problem and unless you stop its going to kill you . your deepest problem is the depression and until you get that sorted you will never be free of the heroin.so please go back to rehab .you sound such a nice person and it would be so sad to lose your life because you couldnt find the right help..

You can quit if you really want to, I did. You don't sound like you want to. Maybe once you OD a few times you'll think twice a/b picking up the needle again.

you should talk to a doctor about the depression... u know they can prescribe strong anti depressants to help and once you do something to fight the depression you might gain the will power to stop the heroin..... nothing is impossible and if you really want to, if you really want to break yourself from this daily habit, the troubles you get in trying to get the money to pay for it, the horrors of what you are doing to your body and your brain, YOU CAN DO IT..... you can and you know you can.... you just gotta be strong..... remember, nothing is impossible...all you gotta do is put your mind to it, just think what a better life you will have if u get off it, the better ppl you will meet once you are free of drugs the things you can do. Its never to late to give up and your never too old to do the things you've always wanted to do.

People are prescribed Heroin legally in Britain ,on maintains doses,Saw something in magazine and heard Switzerland was very open minded on prescribing opiates..At the end of the day ,your always be tied to something just to be normal.Still nobody changes till their heart does,Spent last 30 odd years paying doctors bills..Dislike Methadone,Will not be forced off,not sure if i will or can now..Hindsight is a wonder full thing and given my time again i would not have gone down this road..I have Family,job ,house and all the usual crap but not free,tied to Morphine ,got Opium Tincture for years till they made it wholesale only, Private Doctors(many Honourable Private doctors),its and expensive ball and chain...Take Care,If you can get out ,whatever level out..

No, you can't. It's not legal there and penalties very harsh for heroin use. Doc's in Holland do not give heroin on prescription.

Rx Heroin would probably not be your best interest considering that when you cant get it you feel more depressed and anxious. I take it you have tried therapy etc? Methodone is just about the same. It may help you get over your depression but one has to ask how are you a productive person who is at ease if you are actually thinking of leaving the country to feed your habit? You would be completly isolated, no friends, family etc. My advise would be to think things over and try to give up when you are ready, I dont think any doctors would give heroin on prescription.
