Why is heroin illegal when morphine and vicodin are handed out like skittles?

morphine is actually harder to detox from then heroin is. So why is morphine considered "medicinal" when heroin is considered "Bad joo joo"?

Because the government's policy on drugs is weird and makes no sense. Lolz...that might be why!

Morphine and Vicodin are not handed out like candy and they have a specific purpose. They are used for pain. Morphine is only used for severe pain while vicodin is used for moderate to severe pain. Without a proper diagnosis you cannot get mophine nor vicodin prescribed for you.

Pfizer merck bayer etc must not make heroin.

This is because Morphine is a legal form of heroine. It is used in the medical field to relieve chronic pain, and should not be out on the street. The main reason for heroine being illegal is because the unsupervised use of hypodermic needles spreads hep c, hiv, ect.

cause they're also in pill form. i bet if heroin was in a little cute blue pill, it'd be legal.

Who told you that Heroin is easier to get off of than Morphine. They are both very addicting the bad thing is that one is ellegal and one is legal

As a Registered Nurse AND former heroin junkie {yes, I even lived in the streets and practiced prostitution to sustain my 20-plus bags-a-day habit}, I can give an informed, honest answer to your question. Heroin is an illegal, Schedule I substance; i.e. one that has a big potential for dependence and abuse but no medical use. It is manufactured in clandestine labs, with no quality controls. You never know what's in the bag; to increase profits, heroin dealers mix or "cut" it with other substances such as veterinary anesthetics, even meat tenderizer and rat poison are used in some instances. When a bag of heroin is chemically analyzed, it is often found that less than 8% of the contents is pure heroin; the remainder is just "filler" as the aforementioned. On the other hand, morphine and its derivates {such as Vicodin, Percocet, Demerol, MS-Contin, Lortab, to mention just a few} are manufactured in pharmaceutical companies' laboratories under strict quality controls and closely supervised by the DEA and FDA. Their contents is just what the label says, and it is consitent from one lot of medication to the other. They are medicinal because they are used to treat legitimate medical conditions such as acute or chronic painful diseases. About opiate medications being "handed out like skittles", you're pretty wrong about this. These medications can only be prescribed by properly licensed medical doctors, for patients who suffer from acute or chronic pain {such as post-surgical pain, renal colic due to kidney stones, or pain due to cancer}. Yes, you can ocassionally find a "crooked" doctor who dares to make out prescriptions of these medications for persons who want them to get "high" {or, better said, "down"}, not because they need them for pain relief; but in due time the authorities catch up with them, and I know a couple who have had their licenses revoked and are in prison for this practice.
