Question about heroin detox?

my aunt showed up last night and admitted shes taken 10 doses of heroin and is now addicted. we got her some valium because she wants to get off but the withdrawls are too intense and she feels like shes going to die, we are going to keep her at our house and try to detox her by feeding her and making sure she has fluids and giving her the valium which i guess works the same way as methadone. does anyone know how long it usually takes for a 38 year old woman to come off heroin completely to the point where she experiences no withdrawls? remember shes only taken 10 doses. i will pick a best answer thanks alot. bye bye

I used to be an addict...The with drawls vary from person to person, mine were severe. She most likely will not hold anything down for awhile...even water, but make sure it's on hand.... The Valium is a good idea, however she still won't get much rest. I think she should be over the worst of it in 7-10 days...Good luck to ALL of you...This is not an easy thing!!!

Probably just a few days. If you have a serious habit, it can be up to 14 days of sleepless nights, fever, chills, cramps, backaches, diarrhea, and just plain unpleasantness. She should go cold turkey, and without the Valium. She just needs to ride out the bad times, and she will be okay. Good luck1
