Can heroin cause defects to sperm? |
My boyfriend used to do heroin and i just found out i'm pregnant. Can the baby be born with birth defects even though he's been clean? Yes and no. Sperm are constantly being manufactured, unlike female eggs. If you are certain he hasn't been using, that is improving you odds for a healthy baby. Otherwise yes, environmental factors have an effect on sperm production and viability of the sperm. Was he clean when you concieved? If not, then the baby can have defects. It's hard to tell if the baby will unless you have a sonogram or an amniocetesis done to find out. |
