Anyone know how to get off heroin?

i have a friend who is a heavy heroin user, he used to attend regular meetings for people wanting to get off heroin, the centre is now closed down, he does not want to go into rehab, is there any other way that helps stop the cravings? or is it just mind power? i have used heroin before and i liked it but i didnt become addicted.

he must go through withdrawal...the body has to clean itself....then he should hang with people who do not use at all...he will get his strengh from those people,,,

no hes got to go into rehab so they can get him off it cause of the cravings and withdrawl he'll get

can you restrain him, like chain him up in a room and not let him loose not matter how much he begs. Would it be worth it to you and him to invest that much time and effort? I think at least a week locked up and then constant monitoring fater that to make sure he doesn't try to score. Take him money away and have him avoid the old crowd.

I've seen first hand many of my family members deal with addiction and its not easy to overcome. The only thing that helped "one" of them was rehab. I know you said your friend doesn't want to go but its probably the best route. My aunt didn't want to go (and hasn't gone from my understanding) and is still struggling - going back and forth with addiction.
There's always going cold turkey but that's only if he has extreme will power. Addiction starts with the mind then goes to the body. If he can overcome it mentally he should do okay physically.

Then there's always going to God. I don't know where he stands when it comes to religion but Jesus is always there, if only we'd come to him and quit denying his helping hand, seriously.

I've used Heroin and is it ever tough to kick. The only thing I can suggest is keep trying and try everything until you find something that works for you. I defeated my addiction cold turkey, The hard way. Now I've been Heroin free for 3 years. Good luck to your friend.

Try withdrawal (cold turkey). Lock him up. And inform him about as to what he can expect. Seek information at the link below.
