Herniated disk->hyperthyroidism/other complications?

So the day we moved I herniated a disc in my lower back. Since then I have felt very high strung (August 2006). Last April I had bloodwork & they said my thyroid was off.
Could hyperthyroidism be connected to a disc herniation?

I know this may be a hilarious question, but I am curious & medicine is not my area of expertiese.

It's certainly possible. Since the thyroid gland is innervated by the autonomic nerve system (in your case, sympathetic nerve -- causing increase thyroid function), a herniated disc in the lumbar area, if irritating the sympathetics enough, may cause chain reaction signal bleed all the way to the thyroid.

To determine whether that is the case, and to fix your herniated disc, I have referred numerous patients to a special type of chiropractor who have delivered wonderful results. I strongly recommend that you see them.
