What can one expect after a discectomy from herniated disk in the back? |
My husband is going in for surgery on Monday for a discectomy on three herniated disks in his back. We wondering what to expect afterwards as far as recovery and how much pain he will be in...anyone had any experiences with such an operation? My husband just had 2 disks done about a month ago. Here are a couple of things that helped us. You may want to rent or buy a high rise potty chair, my husband couldn't get into the sitting position for about a week, to painful, this helped alot. The other is a recliner it seemed that the semi-reclined position was the only way he could sleep for a while. My husband was in alot of pain so please be patient with your husband he is really going to need your help. I almost forgot a moist heating pad, just don't put it directly on the incision. Good luck and hopefully all will go well. |
