Besides surgery what would be the best way to take care of a herniated disk so there won't be any pain?

I have herniated disk and the pain goes down my right leg I have been on vic's and ibuprophen. nothing really kills the pain all the way. I just want relief.

If you have a herniated disk, the last place you need to be is a chiropractor. Chiropractic manipulations can easily make a bad situation much worse. My personal chiropractor refused to touch me when see saw the MRI of my neck. He immediately set me up with a neurologist.

As for relief other than surgery - none! The disk is pressing on nerves and causing the pain. The only way to get relief is to have the offending material removed.

There is a danger to putting off surgery. The herniated disk will continue to press on the nerve. Eventually, you will have permanent nerve damage. I had my C5-C6 disk fixed 8 years ago and still have numbness in my hand.

The surgery is the only way to go. When I woke from my C5-C6 discectomy and fusion - I immediately knew I was fixed!
No more pain and the strength returned to my arm. Again the only remaining issue is the numbness.

Don

The only other thing would be a chiroprator if it isn't too far gone.;;;

you may try keeping your legs bent while lying down put a pillow under back side of your legs at the knee also try putting a pillow between your legs while lying down just keep legs bent so that the nerves are not stretched out heat helps if you don't have a heating pad wet a small towel put it in a plastic bag 1gal baggie works great put it in a microwave oven few Min's then wrap a towel around the hot baggie an lay on it an if you drive pull the seat as far forward as u can so legs are bent keeping pressure off the leg nerves also don't wait till you start hurting before you take you pain pills take them as prescribed one ever 4 hrs take them as Dr prescribed so you have it in your system till pain is at a level that you can live with
