How serious of an injury is a herniated disk or bulged disk in the Thorax's area between areas T4 and T5?

I have been hurt in an accident. The MRI showed that I have a bulging disk between T4 and T5 area. How serious is the injury and how much of a settlement from Worker's Compensation should I demand?

It is not a serious injury. Most people, who have no back pain at all or any other symptoms will have a herinated disc if a MRI is taken. A bulging disc can cause problems but in the thorax area it is not going to affect as much as in the cervical or lumbar spine.

I am not sure of the nature of your injury. I just had a disk fusion in January for a buldging disk on L1-S5 (right above my tailbone) due to my legs going numb....you might want to get a second opinion, or go to a specialist. Not sure where you live, but my doctor was really great. He explained everything to me...and more or less told me that you could deal with the pain till you no longer can, or get it fixed while you are younger and it will heal quicker.
As far as a settlement, I wouldn't sign off anything until you know from the doctors what type of treatment that they are going to be giving you....and if the doctor is planning to do surgery (you are going to have a ton of bills----my surgery alone was $73,000--and I was in the hospital for 4 days). Not to mention that you are going to be out of work for at least 8-12 weeks, or longer depending on how quickly your body heals.....so HOLD OFF SIGNING OFF on your settlement....because you may need more money than what they are planning to offer you for your suffering, accumulated bills, etc. etc.
Hope everything goes well for you, I been through it and continuing to go through it....hope this information helps. ;)
