Should i have back surgery for herniated disk i am obese, diabetic, i cannot afford a chirpractor.? Did it, done it, accident in 2001, two back surgeries and they want to do a third with them replacing the disc and some of the spine with a rod, nope, not comfortable with that. I did the pain management thing with the epidural injections from L1 through L5 also had a discectomy (don't do this one - please you will regret it) and rizodomies (spelling) - this is where they actually go in and burn the nerve to help alleviate pain, this was fun until the meds wore off. So I would guess my suggestion is to do your research and see what other options are open. I am not diabetic, but the pain and the painkillers caused high blood pressure, constipation, anemia, etc., so please be mindful of your choices. Oh and it was the chiropractic therapy that caused the need for the 2nd surgery, the therapist shattered what little disc I had left after the first surgery by pushing me into a position that he thought I should be able to obtain - so again be careful of everything, the back and the problems with the back are no "JOKE". God Bless. come to canada, where stuff like that is covered through medicare.... avoid any radical invasive back surgery at all costs... you will more than likely end up in rehab for the rest of your life or disabled in a wheel chair... the surgery is never fatal, though when you wake and motor movements that were there before are now gone, you may wish you were a victim... do yourself a big favor and have an MRI test to be sure that you have a herniated disc and not a collapsed vertabre which is usually caused by osteoporosis because of insufficient calcium & Vit.D intake, lack of enough exercise and diabetes don't help either~~~ |
