Can I still play volleyball with a herniated disk in my lower back? |
Well i got in a car wreck last week. My friend was stupid and went without looking and we got T-Boned on my side of the car. I went to the hospital and I got 2 catscans and i went to the doctors today and they told me that i have a herniated disk in my lower back and i am going to see the neurologist tomoro. Well volleyball season started this week and i really want to play cuz i am tryin to get a scholarship... whoa! I wouldnt. But maybe after a laminectomy, that when they fuse 2 vertebra together to secure the protruded disk. I had a friend with a herniated disk, it hurt her a lot and she had it operated on asap. I suggest that you dont play volleyball for the meantime, it could get worse. physically, you probably can. I wouldn't recommend it though I'd wait until you are better. You want to take care of this now so it won't get worse, so take it easy. Things to avoid is heavy lifting (my doc limits me to 25 lbs.) no jogging, at least not on hard ground. |
