Hernia or not? |
My father thought he had a hernia, so when he went to the family doctor, they told him yes, it was an inguinal hernia. So they scheduled him to see a surgeon, but the surgeon said he didn't feel a hernia, that it must be a groin strain. Now, almost 2 weeks later, my father still thinks the surgeon made a mistake, that he has a hernia afterall because the pain is still there. Could it be that the surgeon was wrong, and that it really is a hernia even though he couldnt feel it? Usually hernias are palpable (feelable), but they do slip back into place. Was your father's hernia documented by any x-ray films or scans? I would get a second opinion, either about the hernia, or from a different surgeon if there is picture evidence that a hernia was there. Hernias, left untreated, tend to recurr.
