Question about Hiatal Hernia Symptoms? |
I was told I have a hiatal hernia last year...I'm not sure if this is what is causing my current problem or not....I'm getting very sick to my stomach for no reason....after I eat I feel very sick to my stomach to the point of vomitting....I have pressure in my stomach as well as pain to touch...does anyone have any experience with hiatal hernias and these symptoms? Could this be the hernia causing the problem? You do need to see your doctor soon. This does not sound related to the hiatus hernia, but it could be. A hiatus hernia is a tearing away of the upper abdominal muscles from the esophagus where it forms a loop prior to entering the stomach. Strangulation is when that upper loop moves "above" the upper abdominal wall (just at the bottom of the ribs) and is trapped there. If your hernia has strangulated (is being choked off) then there is only that tiny portion of your stomach holding the food you eat, which would result in the pain and requirement to vomit. If this is the case, then you should be able to minimize this strangulation by standing up straight, drinking a glass of water, and bouncing up and down. If things go back to normal, you were mildly strangulated and need to learn more about the care of hiatus hernias, or get it surgically repaired. If things do not go back to normal - get an appointment with your doctor. You need to go to the Doctor right away! It could be strangulating and can be very serious! A hernia is a loop of intestine that slips through the stomach wall. If this loop gets strangulated in that muscle it can get gang green. Please go to the doctor today!!. Yes the top of the stomach gathers up and do you mean :HIATUS HERNIA???? |
