Groin Hernia???? PLEASE HELP!!!? |
I have been having this bad ache in my right groin for 5-6 mths and today my gyn. said that she really thought that it might be a hernia, and she referred me to a surgen. My question is has anyone every had surgery for a groin hernia? How was the recovery? Will I have to stay in the hospital? I had my gallbladder removed 6 mths ago and it was alright and I came home with in a few hours of the surgery. Will this be worse? PLEASE HELP. TIA! My dad had surgery for multiple hernias (inguinal and umbilical), and went home the same day. The recovery time will likely be similar to your recovery from gallbladder surgery (my mom had that done, so I've witnessed the recoveries from both). You'll likely have a bit longer down-time with the hernia surgery, though, since they'll be dealing with muscle. Unless there are complications you will go home the same day. Hernia surgery is a relatively common surgery, which is often done outpatient. The surgery is usually completed within one to two hours and most patients are able to return home within 8-10 hours of the procedure. Hernia surgery may be a bit more painful that gallbladder surgery, because gallbladder surgery is typically done in a laproscopic fashion. Patients usually complain of muscle soreness after surgery, however in most cases the pain is well controlled with medication. It is important to have the surgery, because complications associated with hernia's that go untreated can be life threatening. ouch i'm sorry. i usually joke around but groin hernia just sucks. Most hernia operations are same day surgeries. You may be uncomfortable for awhile but you can go home the same day with open or thru scope repairs. I know, I have had 2 hernia surgeries. |
